Cool

Hmm is that a real guitar playing there? If so then kudos. I like to add guitar to some of my ambient stuff too.

Very chill and atmospheric piece. I could nearly taste the reverb on that guitar. An interesting yet simple idea.

There were times where the guitar was had so much reverb I could barely tell what was going on. so watch out on the amount of reverb you put on your instruments.

I sort of wished there was a bit more then just guitar. Some background pads, possible a glitchy beat and a bass of some sort.

good work anyway

thanks for the review. i will take your note into consideration- i definitely need to work on the reverb a little. all of this is live acoustic guitar, with a quiet bass in the background (i need to balance the sounds out next time). because im using a crappy cheap mic (maybe less that 10 euro)the quality is not top notch, but luckily FL allows me to smooth it out. Anyways, keep it up.

Dude this song is so fucking awesome.

Love that bass sound, and well the melody is killer too. I like the strings around the beginning. A very original sound to it.

Definitely sounds like a lot of fucking work went into this. One of the few songs I put on my ipod.

5d for good lolz

cornandbeans responds:

hah thanks man. Glad I got a spot on your ipod. :D

Cool

This was one of my favorites from your Sideways Highways EP. A really original sound to it.

Sort of videogame-ish. For some reason I kept thinking of sonic or something.

Starts of with a cool synth sound. The modulation was good too. The beat was a bit simple for my taste, but fits the song good.

Good job on this song, and well the EP too.

attemptedperfection responds:

yeah, I get a lot of sonic references... but since sonic has one of my favorite soundtracks of all videogames ever, I don't mind. glad you liked it; sorry about the simple beat (there are quite a few under-rythms I tried to throw in...) thanks for the review!

Wow dude, this is so awesome. I'm a bit speechless to say the most.

Very nice genre bender. Great guitar melodies and harmonies mixed with some nice drum programming and effects.

Sorry for such a short review, it was just that good.

Thanks for your vote, SineRider! You voted 5 for [[=Ealif=]], raising its score from 3.13 to 3.33.

thanks for the kind words :)

good

I like this more then most of your other songs. Its kind of ambient dnb, I may say.

The beginning pad, was really cold. Definitely wintery sounding. There is some melody but hard to hear from the pad, because of the release

Then the drums come. I noticed them different because they didn't make my ears bleed XP. Some compression may give the bassdrum a better boom sound you know. Try and change up the hi-hat a bit too. Some double-notes or off-notes.

The bass, I think needs some serious reworking. It sounds fine on the lower notes, but when the pitch rises, it has a very bad, wobbley, like sound. I think a pure sine sound would be better without the modulation.

I look forward to the finished project, since this one was so short.

-SineRider

DSMagnum responds:

I'm probably gonna take the modulation off of the bass or lower the attack on it. Make it just a straight bass.

Thanks for reviewing. I'll do your reviews later.

I like it

the intro to this really reminded me of an Aphex Twin song.

Starts off simple, just two notes and expands with some counter melodies and harmonies. Really is a bit of an out there track. Very distraught and mysterious.

The percussion, I think could use a bit more of a glitch sound. The samples there now are a but plain. I think even just adding a bit of reverb on them could help a bit. Just experiment with it.

I enjoyed listening to this piece and for that you get my 5

Psi-realm responds:

Hey SineRider I think I know which Aphex Twin Song you're talkin about is It Film because that track pretty much is what inspired me to try new things out But I don't know how Drum n bass like that is done. Thaingks for the useful advice I gave it some thought and you were right it was a bit too plain so I
changed somethings I saw as flaws and experimented, If ya get a chance to give the final cut a listen I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Review time

Hello there.

This song was pretty good. The mixture of the drums and ambients went pretty good.

Starts off with a strong drumline. Although they really need some fxing and mastering. They are too bland right now and a bit loud. Try lowering the drum levels specifically on the snares. Try some eq and possibly a bit of reverb could help it.

The background pad part was a bit tough to hear. But its sounds nice as it is. When the drums stop for a bit, it really gets good. That melody and synth are really nice. The drums come back and the ambient part is a bit easier to hear. But still the drums suffer.

I would really like to see an updated version of this song. Its there but needs to come out a bit more, you know.

-SineRider

LfunkeyA responds:

thanx for the review. yeah i like to make the drums real loud (cause when I check my stuff I listen to it in 'Default' settings, no bass or anything), and probably I should have put a lil more reverb, that's true. Maybe I'll fix it one of these days, that's all I do now, fixing stuff :).

DSMagnum responds:

The song didn't render right. :(

hmm

Sorry I forgot to review you back. So I will do it now :)

Starts off really nice. Ambients at its best. A nice melodey on that synth, and some really eerie background noises. The harp was nice touch too.The sound fx and Brass section were nice. It gave it an epic felling.

But then... Woooah, I never would have expected those breaks. From a personal stand point, I thought they were too in your face, and didn't fit well.

Overall great work, just work on your drum parts.

-SineRider

itsameyayo responds:

Lol, I'm starting to hit myself for those breaks, but it was supposed to be in your face, so that's good, 'cause I wanted that :P
-Kinda my "touch."

XD, thanks for the review!!!

Cool

Kind of reminds me of song underwater world or something. It does loop pretty well too.

I love that pad in there. Its kind of entrancing. But wow, your drums are fucking awesome. I love all the reverse effects on them, it really gives it a lot of character.

You were able to keep my attention with glitch in drums and expanding melodies. I think some else said it in another review, there was a bit of clipping because of the resonance of all the instruments. A bit of an ear sore, but alas a great song.

-SineRider

attemptedperfection responds:

I was all set to return your 200th review with a 200th review of my own... but then it said I only had 196! There's only one reasonable explanation: somebody has stolen my reviews and sold them on the black market. It's a sorry world we live in where one can't even trust that one's own reviews are protected from theft...

But I digress. Underwater you say? I knew I should've put it under "ambient"... Glad you liked the drums. Sorry about the ear sore; I'll be the first to admit I have a long ways to go when it comes to mastering and such.

Thanks for the review!
