Absolutely spot on intro. It is awesome. The drone-y tremolo tone in the beginning is awesome. How exactly did you obtain that sound? Lots of a reverb and maybe a delay? Whether or not, its great. Lately I've been experimenting with shoegaze type guitar tone (Ex: lots of reverb, delay, fuzz distortion, reverse reverb)
When the strum chords come in, I swear it sounded just like Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The drums start off okay, but the song just trails into nothingness. Considering it is a work in progress, that is going to be fixed.
I have not heard anything from you in quite awhile and it it sounding great. Finish this up and I'll take a listen and tell you what I think.

hey matey, thanks for the review. You're spot on with regards to guitar, flamenco on the string with two seperate deals and a massive reverb. 'Shoegazing' is definately one of my more promient effects of playing, delays and reversed verbs, it's finding the balance so it doesnt totally fill the audio spectrum. Glad you like the chord progression, it started out as a riff which as its self sounds awesome but chords work stronger me thinks. Yea it does peter out into nothingness, this is more the first section of the song, it'll trail off into more lead and a key change. Vocals will come in on the first guitar chord. Drums are just a guide atm, ezdrummer is fucking cubase up for me conflicting for some reason so just using fl for the meanwhile while i suss it out. Keep your ears peeled in the next couple of weeks as i will keep posting updates until the track is complete.

I'm really digging this right here.
Lovely synth melody going. Kind of has a nostalgic sound to me. What time signature is this in? Kind of sounds like a poly-rhythm with the base notes and melody going.
The drum programming is really great. IF you did all that manually then bravo! its really professional sounding. Even if you didn't its still great. The drums sound a bit subdued though. I'd like to see them a bit crisper, for example boost the highs a bit more, but not too much. Nobdoy wants a headache.
Great song. Favorited.

I'm pretty terrible with music theory, but I can tell you that it's running at 180bpm. The melody runs for four measures, and the bass line goes for seven (I feel like an idiot for not knowing). For the glitching, I used the dblue glitch plugin. I'm not sure if that classifies as manual glitching :P I doubt it though. Anyways, I'm glad you liked the song, and thanks for the review :D

Damn this track is fine. The pad is absolutely beautiful. Mellow and dreamy. What did you make that from? THe radio samples sound awesome alnog side everything. The beat is nice and crisp.
I think the bass could use some work. Make it do something. Its the only thing I thought did fit to well with the rest of the song. Still i fucknig great song. Make more now. :)

I have to say, I swear I was listening to one of those NewAge nature cds from the 90s XD. The intro was absolutely perfect, and I must say the best part of the entire song for me. Some really nice synth and texture laying.
I wasn't expecting the way you took the piece. It surprised me a lot. I was expecting a long drawn out minimal track, but you changed it to.. I don't know what to call it. Electro-arabian, I don't know... Its an interesting sound, but some things you should fix are the bass. Turn the lower frequencies down a bit and the highs, a bit higher. It would give it a less muddy sound, I think. Also the main percussion sounds a bit too muddy, possibly from too much reverb. Turning the reverb dry/wet knob down could help.
The arping synth surprisingly fit very well with the whole theme. If you had told me you were putting an arping synth when you were making an desert style piece, I'd probably think it was a bad idea, but it really works here.
Overall, you've improved a lot, since the old days of NG/ Keep it up man. :D

Thanks for the review signrider. Yeah the bass. I will probably, some time in distant future, revisit all my project files for my submitted songs and fix stuff that people have... yeah, told me to change.

Hello Pitters. I don't mind lending my ear a bit.
I really like how this one sounds. Sometimes simplicity is nice. Good use of tremolo effect on the main guitar. The reverse guitar, I think makes the song. Really nice job with it. The percussion is good and varies nice, but I think you should turn the reverb down some. The sound is too drown out, I think.
The only other thing that could make this song better is some killer vocals. Try it sometime ;)
Author's Response:
Thanks for the review man. I'm always happy when i use my guitars to make music, tend to have a total different sound compared to the synth work. Yea that reversed guitar does work a treat on this track, It's all one take of me playing lead but ive just cut it in parts and it worked out for the best. ezdrummer for the drums. my lifesaver, i actually now have the drums to back up the sound.
Indeed mate it needs vocals, im trying to get someone to do em as I speak. I can only sing fleetingly in tune so i aint doing it haha

Wow this song amazes me. This is the kind of music I'd love to be able to write, but I've never had any talent at writing lyrics, and well singing in general...
I love that crunchy beat. The guitar line is perfect. I like the few times when the clarinet comes in. The vocals harmonies near the end are awesome. Actually you know what this song reminds me of. New Round by Beck.
Great work dude. Make sure you finish this one. The only thing I didn't like was how it cut off at the end.

Look whose improved sooo much ;D
This is really, Really awesome. I mean, I don't usually get effected as much by new songs i hear on the portal now a days, but this one is a great exception.
Starts nice with the bitcrusher in there (ableton?). I love all the sampling going on throughout the song, with the piano, and the sax. That detuned synth pad is awesome aswell. The bass sounds awesome and jazzy.
The Percussion was great, subtle but good changes throughout the song. Mastered to near perfection. The kick comes out nice and deep and doesn't cut in too much to the song.
You've improved so much on your mastering skills from your last completely songs. Everything is clean, clear and well put.
So great job on your part on this song. I know I actually reviewed it ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BY THE WAY :D!!!!
Author's Response:
thanks a lot man!
The bitcrusher is a really nice one by Sonalksis, the beginning is basically some bitcrushed edits of the main Thelonious Monk sample going on throughout the track.
