oh fred

Nice collaboration you have here. The whole time it reminded me of an acoustic version of The Boys republic by Deftones. I really like how the bass sounds. Did you do that? The whole reverb-y atmosphere sounds great. I really like how it gets quiet near the end and comes back in.

VegetarianMeat responds:

Nope, that was him :)
I'm hoping he's willing to collaborate with me again on my NIN tribute :P

Thanks for the review.

Nice

This is a really nice sounding piece so far. The themes sound great. I no the structure isn't set yet, but it sounds nice as it is. I liked the strings near the end. I don't have much criticism, but the piano part in the beginning seems to mud together a bit on the lower notes. It's most likely the vst you used.

loansindi responds:

I appreciate the feedback.

I've spent the past few days at a theater that thankfully has a piano in the rehearsal hall, so I've had a few hours to put some ideas together and actually write them down, so when it comes to putting together a proper version of this piece I hope to be better prepared.

I think right now the key change is lost because i drew it out too much.

Lush

This is a very impressive song. It's got that nostalgic Autechre sound. The stuff you hear in their earlier records. I absolutely love that harpy lead synth. The jazzy drums sound great too. Overall it's just very well put together. My only gripe is small when saying I wish the drums were a bit more crisp. Finally something great gets the top 5.

tijnn responds:

Autechre sound.

I love you. Thanks for that huge compliment.

Crispy

I'm not a huge fan of this stuff, but I do love the energy and intensity. The rating on this track is bullshit. It should be much higher. The ambient breakdowns were lovely. Some really nice rhythms too.The only thing I didn't like was the hit around 3:32. It was a bit muffled and sounded off compared to the main kick.

Teqnofreaq responds:

Thank you, the hit was the only thing I could think of, but thanks for the advice. Might redo that part. The ambient part was 100% The Antagonist's idea, great idea in my opinion, didn't think about that until he said some ambience would fit nicely. Thank you for listening and I'm glad you liked it!

Potential

This song definitely has some potential to it. I really like the synth that comes in at 2:20. The kick is nice and the mix is good as well. The bass was a bit weak, but nice nonetheless.

My problem with the track is it seems to go nowhere. The progression is okay in a typical dance/house track, but it doesn't build upon each part enough. I think if you take it back and add on some harmonies and different drums, it would really make the track stick out more.

Mans0n responds:

thanks for the honest yet helpful review!
ill be sure to try and mix up the percussion
and add some background stuff to it.

Sweet

Those Boards of Canada short bridging tracks tend to be my favorites, so naturally I really like this song. The pad is amazing. What synth are you using for it? The drums were interesting, although I'd suggest cutting out some of the lows so they are less muddy. Great work :)

VegetarianMeat responds:

Good idea, I made the mistake of not listening to it on my speakers before I finished it up (I use my headphones most of the time).

As for the pad, Absynth - probably my favorite vst to work with.

Quality

Honestly I like it. Creepy and atmospheric in all ways. Keep doing what you're doing.

SukiWukiDookie responds:

Thanks.

Quite nice

I really enjoyed this to be honest. I don't hear the vanilla ice influence but i don't know that many songs by him.
The beat was really smooth and epic, definitely not a typically kind of hip hop beat. I like the originality. The rapping was good and matched the intensity of the beat. That melody is going to be stuck in my head for awhile.
Good job with this one.
