Nice

I always loved this song from the game. IT always gave me chills, and fills me with fun memory's of the game.

You did a great job of recreating it. I haven't heard the real version in awhile, but it sounds pretty much perfect to me.

Next time try to do something original with it though, So it is more of a remix.

check out my mario remix looooool

TheAmateurAnimator responds:

I couldn't think of anything original to do. If anything, I wanted to get nearly the EXACT same song, but the odd strings in the beginning of the original just defied my very comprehension, as I already stated. Plus, this was just the "fleshed-out" version of a MIDI that I submitted to VGmusic.com, so I did want to keep it like the original.

Thanks for the review, though. It means a lot coming from an AF reg and musician such as yourself.

Yo that was good

This was a pretty slamming remix dude. But the synth was mad fucked up dude. It started to mess up my speakers. The drums were good. You recreated it really goodly.

chek out my mario remix "Faggot Ass Mario" plz^_^

mariomusicmaker1 responds:

lol yea ill cheak it in a min. about the synth. it isnt the synth that is doing that it is the bass. turn ur sub down and u wong get the popping sound that i get when i crank up my sub. i cant fix it till i get a better sound card tho. it dosnt sound like that until after i export...

Nice

Nice short song. I do a bit of DnB myself and I quite enjoy the genre.

The drums were nice low and quick. The different effects on the drums gave it nice character. The robot voice in the beginning was annoying lol. The synth in the beginning was a cool sound and really set up the rest of the track. The bass as good.

I hope to see more from you guys. I'll check back when you get varafied =)

Critical-Collision responds:

Thanks for your review SineRider, much appreciated.

Another one that doesn't like that robot voice eh?

Well it was a method we thought up, as a way of introduction. we used it sparingly too ;)

Pleased you like it. Have no fear you'll be seeing more from us

Thanks again and a review heading your way soon.

Wow dude

Wow dude, I didn't think you made songs like this. The shear complexity of the track is enough deserving of a 10. Sounds much like Autechre and afx. This is probably some of my favorite types of music. I think I may have found my new favorite ng song.

The glitchy drums and sound effects in the beginning were done amazingly. The low bass effets was real cool. When the lead flute sounding synth came in, it really made me like the song even more. The sine pad was a really nice touch as well.

Man I would really like to hear more tracks liek this from you ^_^

dj-padman1 responds:

Thanks man, I've heard your name sprinkled liberally through the forums.
I may just have to check out your tracks and see what all the fuss is about!
Jeez..thansk for the afx and Autechre comparison...you're giving me a swelled head :)

Amazing

Wow, I am really impressed by the complexity of this song. Many factors of the song seem so odd, yet so perfect.

The beginning sounded like a reverse acoustic guitar or violin or something. The high percussion came in, it started to pick up he pace and go somewhere. The loud bass stabs are a a cool effect. The clicking sound was cool. When the choir came in it sounded very weird. A bit crowded.

It was a bit short for my likings. But overall a great ambient track. Keep up the good work man ^_^

thanks a lot for the great review, ill think about your comments for a possible second version.

Nice

I liked this track. It had a nice calm sound and relaxed me very much.

The panning synth in the beginning was very trippy, and made my head feel light. When the light bells came in, it started to bring justice to the panning. The melody was simple yet affective. The synth strings were a nice touch as well.

The seemed more like an intro rather then a whole song. It was pretty short for an ambient song. I think if you elaborated a bit more, possibly melody change, and maybe a light drum beat I think it would make it a lot more interesting.

Overall nice relaxing track, but needs a bit of work. Keep it up man ^_^

Astrono responds:

Thanks, i should try that next time ;)

haha nice

Hmm, it seems we will be competing again.

I really liked this remix. It really changed up the style of the music. It gave it a bit of videogame sound. I could see this in a game like Mario or something.

The drums were really diverse and crazy. At the begining being really quiet slow, then picking up the pace and becoming a crazy DnB song. Although, I think the drum samples seemed a bit low quality, or missing some high.

The added distortion guitar was a good idea. It gave it more character and a nice background tone. I liked the main synth, it had a odd sound and was cool.

I think some of the other sounds and synths were a bit low grade. I'm not sure, because it could just be the compression.

Overall a great piece, I really looking forward to hear more MRAC remixes.

attemptedperfection responds:

Thanks for the review!
yeah, I'm not sure what happened with the compression... I haven't had a chance to listen to it via newgrounds, since I'm stuck with dial-up for a week or so, but the mp3 I submitted didn't seem too terribly bad... The drum samples probably seemed a bit low-quality because I recorded a lot of them myself, and, well, I guess I haven't really gotten the hang of it just yet. I'm surprised you didn't say anything about my lo-fi, underwater-ish, BoC-esque synth featured at the end there; I was actually rather proud of that one. :P Anyway, dial-up or not, I'll try take a listen to yours when I get the chance.

uh huh

By the way, if you didn't know, MenialConstruct is my alt. account and I remembered I owed you a review. So here it goes.

I really liked this piece. It was very harsh yet melodic, ambient and DnB at the same time. The drums and effects were done to the point where it almost reminded me of Aphex Twin or other Drill and Bass artist.

The melody was a very sad, and depressing. The piano had a good sound and mixed with the different synths were a very nice touch. The bass was nice and simple and gave it a nice low tone. Although I think the sting-like synth should have been substituted to a lighter and more fitting synth.

The drums were really great throughout the piece. The different effects really kept me interested to listen on and on. While the drums were great, I did not like the snare sample. It was way to harsh and overpowered. I would change it for a lighter and smoother snare.

The progression of the song kept it nice and easy. It had a nice build up and drop off. I would have liked to see a possible contrasting part.

Overall a really good song. I'll 5 and already downloaded :D

EchozAurora responds:

Yay!! A helpful review! =]
I was trying out a lot of new things with this song. Believe it or not, the drums were a chopped loop, rather than individual samples, although I could have cut out that snare and replaced it with another. (Speaking of which, if you know a place where I could find some really good drum samples, that would be great. I hate using the fruity loops default stuff, not much fun. I have a couple of vintage drum loops from an old vinyl that I chopped up, but it would be nice to have a good sample set to work with.
Thanks for the review!

Hello

Before I start this review, I must state that you are thE LUCKY WINNER TO GET MY 125th REVIEW. HURRAY!!!!???!11!1one

Tis pretty nice song though. The IDM drum kit works its wonder to pull myself into the world that is glitch song loop.

The songs bass is trademark sadspoon style bass, mixed with the ambiance of the song work really nicely.

Well I'm not going to write an essay here because it was pretty good.

-SineRider

DrumNBass responds:

for the bass i just distorted a preset.

noob.

Ah cool man

I just noticed the new version of this so, I decided to check it out, as I liked the first version very much. As this being a revised version, this is decently how I wanted to see the first version.

The melody is probably my favorite part about the whole piece. The beginning melody has some kind of entrancing sound that really attracts me to listen on and on.

The synths were pretty basic but fit well with the song type. The sawtooth synth wasn't as overpowering this time around. The drums were a nice touch, and better used in this version. Although they sounded good, they seemed a bit too quiet and boring at times.

The transitions were much better to the contrasting part at the end. The whole contrasting part was done overall much better. It sort of reminded me of some kind of classical piece.

Great work, I see you have been improving and improving and this goes to show you an make great pieces when you give it time.

-SineRider

ugh long lol

ListenToMyMusic responds:

The first version I was trying to make as fast as I could, then I revised it for a month and am much happier with, and now that I listen to it, the drums were a little quiet. Should have raised it up a little more. And I have a FPC problem where I can't download any new kits, so I had to stick with the included.

Before I mixed it with earphnes on, so it was completely differn't on my speakers, this time I mized it with real speakers. Makes it much more balanced
