You have wonderful voice. I like the songwriting too. I felt like you really connect with what you are singing and I can feel the emotion in your voice. The whole tune is pretty simplistic, but I feel that's fitting with this kind of song.

I'd suggest smoothing out the guitar playing, and maybe overlaying some more guitar or even some vocal harmonies (think Elliott Smith like). It might be interesting to hear some sort of B section, with some different chords, then tie it back in with the A section. Although, I think the desperation and repetition of what you have now works well. It really drives the emotion home.

Good work :)

Wow

Straight up Pantera right here. I gotta say the whole progression of the song was nice, it kept me interested and wanting to hear more. The production was nice, I especially love the guitar tone on the rhythm and the lead.

Great programming on the drumkit, but I feel like there it a bit too much high end on the cymbals cutting through the mix, other than that everything is spot on.

...and damn that is a sick solo and some great riffing.

I won't forget you <3

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks very much for the review, dude.
I hear ya on the cymbals. I had to put sooo much stank on them, for ANY impact. Otherwise they were flat and not effective at exclaiming the points they needed to >( I need new shit.
The drums are a constant battle with me. haha.

Thanks again, bro. Glad you dug it\m/

A real beauty

I quite like the light percussion going on here. Make more like this :D

Funny I come across this. I was just listening to the song last night. I have to say you pull off the vocals very good. It almost sounds like maynard himself at points.

Your vocals are quite nice, but I have to say it was a bit shake-y at time, and out of time with the guitar part. I'm not sure if you recorded them separately or not, but try and record with a click-track to keep yourself in time. I know I always have trouble keeping time while strumming chords.

As for mixing, I liked the dynamics of it all. I'd like to see a more developed cover/remix, with all sorts of instruments. Keep it up man :)

Nedak responds:

Thanks for the critique!

If I had a way to record my drumkit I'd totally be down on re-recording it, but sadly I don't so I had to stick to this acoustic cover.

I learned the song on the guitar and developed the vocals in about 2 hours so I can totally see why you make the critiques you did.

As for the timing, there are a few parts where the timing is a little off. That's partially because I'm a self-taught guitarist so every time I try to mess with a metronome I never get it to the BP/S that I want. I'm starting to teach myself music theory though, so hopefully that works better with recordings.

Thanks again.

Whoa

Sweet stuff man. You are all over the place.

1:44 I'm feeling this one, love that synth thing, whatever you might call it
3:05 sweet bossa rhythm man. I love bossa
5:00 cool shoegaze style guitar

Buoy responds:

hey nice thanks man

awesome

Wow this really quality stuff. Serious sounds like Joy Division + Fugazi with a bit Cap'n Jazz in there.

I really like the subtle use of time signature changes. It never feels jarring and odd, but smooth and flow-y, which I think is a great thing. The recording sounds great so far and the slightly off key vocals are nice. My only complaint was at times the vocals seemed mixed a bit too loud, drowning out the guitars.

I do agree it's quite an epic song. I love all the musical ideas and thoughts thrown around throughout the song. I'm not much of a lyricist, but the imagery is great you create with the different metaphors.

Beautful!

not sure how I missed this little gem. Great timbre. I love the sort of muffled sound to it.

Inspiring, gotta make more ambient noa

Fubaka responds:

Was wondering where you had been! I'm glad you enjoyed this song. It took some inspiration from Tome89's music. Did you check my other newer releases?

Can't wait to hear your ambient response!

Wonderful

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this song. It's been added to my favorites since I first heard it. The pads sounds nice. I like the slightly detuned pad. The different ideas flow fairly nicely into each other as well. My favorite part being around 1:10.

It's nice that you tell us every little detail of how you created the piece, but sometimes I think it's nice to leave that stuff out and really let people use their imagination and explore the song. "Flying Over New Mexico" would be a cool title.

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

Haha, yeah I leave in the details in the comments for those who want to know how I make everything. I am also really proud that I managed to create a song based off of such strange sounds, so I went ahead and put it in there. Flying Over New Mexico was somewhat related to my original title, but I thought that it was a BIT to cliche... then again, Into the Eclipse is as well lol. Man I suck at choosing sound titles. At least the current one actually related to the song :P

I appreciate your reviews Sine. You are actually one of my inspirations along with Kingbastard.

sweet

great tune. I love the pad. It sort of reminds me a bit of music I use to write a lot, a few years ago. Just watch your clipping, especially around the 1 minute mark.

Great work

Fubaka responds:

I didn't even notice any clipping 'til you pointed it out.
I thought it sounded a lot like your older music too.

lovely

this is lovely.

Tome89 responds:

lovely!
