Interesting...

I have to say, I swear I was listening to one of those NewAge nature cds from the 90s XD. The intro was absolutely perfect, and I must say the best part of the entire song for me. Some really nice synth and texture laying.

I wasn't expecting the way you took the piece. It surprised me a lot. I was expecting a long drawn out minimal track, but you changed it to.. I don't know what to call it. Electro-arabian, I don't know... Its an interesting sound, but some things you should fix are the bass. Turn the lower frequencies down a bit and the highs, a bit higher. It would give it a less muddy sound, I think. Also the main percussion sounds a bit too muddy, possibly from too much reverb. Turning the reverb dry/wet knob down could help.

The arping synth surprisingly fit very well with the whole theme. If you had told me you were putting an arping synth when you were making an desert style piece, I'd probably think it was a bad idea, but it really works here.

Overall, you've improved a lot, since the old days of NG/ Keep it up man. :D

Nice!

Hello Pitters. I don't mind lending my ear a bit.

I really like how this one sounds. Sometimes simplicity is nice. Good use of tremolo effect on the main guitar. The reverse guitar, I think makes the song. Really nice job with it. The percussion is good and varies nice, but I think you should turn the reverb down some. The sound is too drown out, I think.

The only other thing that could make this song better is some killer vocals. Try it sometime ;)

Thanks for the review man. I'm always happy when i use my guitars to make music, tend to have a total different sound compared to the synth work. Yea that reversed guitar does work a treat on this track, It's all one take of me playing lead but ive just cut it in parts and it worked out for the best. ezdrummer for the drums. my lifesaver, i actually now have the drums to back up the sound.

Indeed mate it needs vocals, im trying to get someone to do em as I speak. I can only sing fleetingly in tune so i aint doing it haha

F'ning Beautiful!

Wow this song amazes me. This is the kind of music I'd love to be able to write, but I've never had any talent at writing lyrics, and well singing in general...

I love that crunchy beat. The guitar line is perfect. I like the few times when the clarinet comes in. The vocals harmonies near the end are awesome. Actually you know what this song reminds me of. New Round by Beck.

Great work dude. Make sure you finish this one. The only thing I didn't like was how it cut off at the end.

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

thanks for listening. yeh, I like this too:) was inspired by a short story by somebody that I can't remember or much about the story now. maybe I remake this one and finish. it cut off coz I think I didn't like the rest of the vocals...
peace amigo

Oh snap!

Look whose improved sooo much ;D

This is really, Really awesome. I mean, I don't usually get effected as much by new songs i hear on the portal now a days, but this one is a great exception.

Starts nice with the bitcrusher in there (ableton?). I love all the sampling going on throughout the song, with the piano, and the sax. That detuned synth pad is awesome aswell. The bass sounds awesome and jazzy.

The Percussion was great, subtle but good changes throughout the song. Mastered to near perfection. The kick comes out nice and deep and doesn't cut in too much to the song.

You've improved so much on your mastering skills from your last completely songs. Everything is clean, clear and well put.

So great job on your part on this song. I know I actually reviewed it ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BY THE WAY :D!!!!

MackerelSalad responds:

thanks a lot man!
The bitcrusher is a really nice one by Sonalksis, the beginning is basically some bitcrushed edits of the main Thelonious Monk sample going on throughout the track.

Long time no Review ;D

This is quiet a swell track you got going here. Definitely worthy of a placing in the MAC. You've definitely been getting better and better ever since I last reviewed you.

You create this really nice atmosphere within this track. I definitely see some kind of alien world. The pads and synths are all nice, but I think something a little more smooth would fit better. All them ain pads and synths are kind of rough sounding, but I suppose that helps with the atmosphere.

The clicky percussion was really cool. I liked the panning, but I think it would sounds better slightly quieter, and with a bit of reverb. The rest of the percussion was really nice. You did some really nice light glitches that sounds really good. My only problem with them is that they new more highs, or at least low the mids.

The sub is nice and big, almost too big, but it is a cool feelnig when it kicks in.

Overall really nice song you got going on. Keep up the good work man.

Hmm nice

Have you been listening to Beck lately? This sounds alot like the intro to Girl by Beck.

I love that lead. Very nice melody by the way. Its really catchy. I think i might be humming that melody all night. The percussion sounds nice and bitcrushed. I definitely could see his evolve into something crazy, you know.

This is giing me instpiration to make something for the new MAC ;)
Good work mate ;D

LJCoffee responds:

ha ha ... Actually, I haven't listened to that CD in months but now that you mention it, it does sound very similar. It wasn't intentional but the more I think about, the more I realize that this track was probably influenced by that intro. I always try so hard to be somewhat original too... Oh well... :)

Thanks for the review and I hope you come up with something awesome for the MAC!

Bravo!

You really nailed down the Boards of Canada sound in this piece. Glitch infused with a touch of hiphop and ambient. I really liked the choir bit. Drums sound nice and clear.

Great work man.

Twoism responds:

Cheers man. Thanks for listening to it.

Yeah...I really need to change my username.

Rig

This is fucking awesome.

Rig responds:

No no no...YOU'RE fucking awesome.
:D

Best Yet!

Okay you pretty much perfected this one. The new sax parts sounds great and dreamy like the original with the reverb. Great glitches and stuff. I swear the slide guitar around the end sounds a lot like Ritchie Valens. The mixdown is great by the way ;)

You are a man of great talent.

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

right back at ya slick
;ped

hmmm

Still amazing man. I meant to review the other version, but basically did over the myspace comments I left you. So basically everthing I said there should be here

Some really nice glitches added into the piece. Small little diddies you wouldn't notice to much, make all the differences ;)

I did notice a few small changes from the demo that I liked a little better from this version. I liked the sax with a little more 'verb, you know. It made it more dreamy. Also around 1:40 I think those hats would sound a bit better pitched up a bit.

Aye, still an amazing track,,, why aren't you signed bud? ;)

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

cheers amigo.
haha, seems like i'm not done yet after all. was thinking the same about the sax part in the buidup. i'll pitch dem dere hats up too, see how it goes. don't wanna do to much more to it, don't wanna overwork it, am fairly happy with the mix on this.
thanks again
