Great

Sorry man tok me so long to get to this review. Well here it goes I guess.

I assume that you had this in your head when you were making the melody and bass line. It seems like it fit better then msot of hte MRAC songs I have heard.

Well the melody was ok and bassline were good, the drums are what really shine in this song. Every drum was accounted for and went great an the effects on them were a nice touch.

I liked the tempo change at the middle, it realyl gave it some character.

Only thing is it seemed like it was lacking something. Like some kind of backround sound, as it was a bit empty.

btw is this a contestant in the contest or just an example of what you can do with the piece?

HouseMasta responds:

Exhibition piece = just the opening to the show. not an entry piece. yes, just to show what you can do

Oh shit

Holy fuck man this is sick. Very cool mix of heavymetal and dnb. I wouldnt of thought of something like this. Very god guitar playing. The only thing is where it stops with nothing except the guitar part, I would have liekd to see liek a drum beat or soemthing to back it up so it isnt as empty.

Great collab none the less dude. Keep it up man hehe

I uploaded the wrong file.
omg i'm an idiot.

ahhhhh lolololol

Thanks for the review, I'm still slapping myself

Ah pretty cool

Well techno not being my favorite genre, I can say I liked this song. It is pretty original. Not like alot of the other techno I usually hear on this site. so that is big points to you.

Now down to the nitty gritty.

The main sawtooth synth you chose as your main melody synth was nice but i'm not a big fan of sawtooths. The flute-like synths had a nice harmony throughout the song and I really liked it. The bass simple and effective. The various other synths that build up the track were great. But the drum beat sounded a bit quiet almost hard to hear behind the rest of the song. I think this deserves a better beat.

The key change in the middle of the song was a bit sketchy. I think it would have been better without it being it was a bit choppy.

Well thats about wraps up my review.

Thanks. I was considering a better beat. I listened to it like that once or twice but felt that it sorta took away from the smoothness of the rest of the instruments. And you're probably right about the key change, cause I had a little bit of a drum roll thingy to lead up to it, but I had turned down the volume on it. Oh well. Maybe I'll make another version sometime ^^

Thanks for the review!

Oh shnap

Shit man, this is one of my favorites from squarepusher. Your cover is freaking crazy. When I started listening I had trouble pointing out the differences from the original. An amazing recreation. You gotta finish it man.

-SineRider

btw have you heard the somewhat-new squarepusher album hello everything. Just came out in the states about 2 weeks ago. I need to pick that one up^_^

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

yo bro...
if u listened to em side by side you would notice the differences... all the rhodes shit was done from memory pretty much, to re-create the original would take you absolute moons...is very intricate... also no live bass here, my bass only has 3 strings and again, most of it is too quick for my nubb hands.
hello everything... is certainly a good'en, but imo not his best. i had it in my car for a few weeks and as i only drive short journeys most of the time i got to know the first 4-5 tracks really well and are all pretty sweet. the rest of the album... are a few fillers but are a bunch gems too, definately worth a listen, prolly if i gave the rest of it a chance i would rate it more but alas, some of the older stuff seems more legendary to me.
anyways, thanks for listening

Now this is what I like to hear

I'm going straight out to say, I loved this track. Everything about it, from the backround ambients to the light synths. The drumbeat was superb and your really nailed that soundscape feel. the song made me relax in a an odd way, even though it is pretty omnicient. I really liked teh overall tone of the song. The reverb and delay were a very nice touch. Dude make more osngs liek this. This is going in my ambient collection of NG songs :D

attemptedperfection responds:

glad you liked it! ^_^

thanks for the review!

This is great

When did you get this good man? I really like this alot. This track was really good. I love that vibraphone or whatever that was. I really like where it went in the begining. When that sawtooth lead came in, I was suprisenly comforted by the sound. The beat was good, ncie and fitting for this kind of piece. I loved that melody. The only thing is it seemed almsot like you were trying to add on and on aroudn the end, and it didn't seem to fit the song good. I would have liked the main parts to be bit lobger, being my favorite. Keep at it man, your getting better and better :D

<3-SineRider (big fat jucy review lol)

ListenToMyMusic responds:

Thanks, glad that you liked it. I actually made this in a few days, It's weird how sometimes you can come up with great stuff in a short time, and then sometimes it takes forever.

pretty cool

Thats a cool song man. I loved the guitar and stuff. Like the wah wah effect was cool. Drums were good and stuff. Bit distorted but w/e its hard to record sometimes.

-SineRider

attemptedperfection responds:

yeah, I'm still working on my recording technique with the drums... as well as everything else...
the wah wah effect was actually my zoom pedal, which I already had... it's the distortion I just recorded with my new v-amp 2; I could never get a good distorted sound out of my zoom pedal, so I figured I'd go with a proper pre-amp, and it seems to work much better. :D
thanks for the review!

Classic

Feels like im playing some kind of arcade game. This is so cool. Never thought of making 8-bit drum and bass lol. Some crazy vocals in there. The sax made me laugh a bit. Wasn't expecting that. I love this 5 plus download. Keep it up man

-SineRider

how 'bout you check out my new track i juat put up :)

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

nice 1,
yeh, had fun making this. are a lot of people i've come across on myspace who make true chiptune stuff, truly 8-bit, proper gameboy music, this is a kind of hybrid but still has that classic sound to it.
;ped

awesome

Lol this made me lol mucho.

Lol i got nothing to say except it was cool lol

-SineRider

cornandbeans responds:

That's all that matters. :P Glad you liked it.

I liked it

Oh shit, system shock was a awesome game. I kind of want to play that right now.

The song was very cool. Nice beat, and was put together real swell. I defently think that lead was perfect for this song, it had a really cool melody and sound. Very cool effects fit perfectly together.

It builds up and up then drops off, I've used that kind of arrangement in alot of my songs. I like that.

Great song, make mroe man =)

-SineRider

VegetarianMeat responds:

Woops! Sorry for not responding earlier, I guess I didn't notice I got a review :S

Anyways glad you liked the song, I wanted to do something different than ambient, seeing how I've been doing a lot of that lately, and decided to try to make a DnB song. And ya, system shock is a great game, scares the shit out of me, but it's great :P
